BRAAITOLOGY

Braaing is every meat lover’s dream come true, which is why we are pleased to present Braaitology. This saucy feature will excite the taste buds incorporating pork, chicken, beef, lamb and even fish dishes evenly spread across the 10 appetizer-size offerings, giving meat-lovers an extensive taste experience.

WINE TASTING ZONE

South Africa is known for creating some of the most award-winning wines in the world. Wine is part of the South African culture and we are bringing that culture to the Fire & Feast Meat and Food Festival. Buy your wine glass in the Wine Tasting Zone and experience the sensory experience and evaluation of the best local wines in SA.

LIVE ENTERTAINMENT

Don’t miss the live entertainment in our outdoor area taking place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We have Mi Casa, Robbie Wessels, Cito and Martin from Wonderboom performing and so much more.

FLAVOURS OF THE WORLD

10 Countries. A world of flavours all under one roof. Through this authentic feature visitors will take a trip through this cultural feast with delights from Thailand, Japan, Turkey, South Africa, Italy, Indian, Morocco, Mexico, Portugal and Korea. 

NATIONAL BUTCHERS CHALLENGE

The National Butchers’ Challenge presented by Crown National, will run throughout the festival, sees 10 teams consisting of two members each, competing in a three-hour time slot where they will be required to prepare and present cuts of beef, lamb and pork. The six members will be assigned specific tasks with no overlap and assistance allowed. Their overall performance will be assessed by a panel of judges with representatives from the South African Chefs Association and South African Meat Industry Council scrutinising several aspects such as hygiene, knife skills, marketability of the cuts, presentation and the uniqueness of the product formulation. The best butchers of this challenge will go on to represent South Africa at the 2020 World Butchers Challenge in Sacramento, USA.

TOTS N POTS INTERACTIVE KIDS ZONE

Drop the kids off in this interactive kids zone where they get to enjoy a fun, hands on cooking experience.  

COMPETITIONS

CHILLI COMPETITION

This feature is not for the faint hearted. The big question is, are you ready for some heat? If you think you can handle the heat and make it through this year’s hottest Chilli Competition, then this is your chance to prove it. Running on Friday at 5.30pm and twice on Saturday and Sunday at 1.30pm & 3.30pm at the Chilli Zone the bravest of the brave will tuck into this fiery competition. Winners of each round will receive R1000 CASH. Entries will be taken on site and are limited to 6 contestants per day.

RIB EATING COMPETITION

Grab a bib and eat a rib! BRM is hosting a rib eating competition at 3pm daily. If you think you what it takes to smash 2kg of ribs in the quickest time then head over to the BRM Brands Restaurant and stand a chance to WIN. Daily prizes include an additional 2kg of ribs while the overall winner over with the quickest time over the 3 days will win 10kg of succulent ribs. But wait there’s more, if you can beat 6.20” (the current  SA record) BRM will throw in an additional 10kg of ribs!! Entries will be taken on site and are limited to 5 contestants per day.

BRAFIA

In partnership with the Fire & Feast Meat & Food Festival BRAFIA will be facilitating and hosting the very first Fire Food Championships.

This event takes place over 3 days (6-8 September) and each day will focus on a specific challenge,
Friday - Steak & Braaibroodjie
Saturday - Potjiekos
Sunday - BBQ Smoking

In conjunction with this the BRAFIA will host courses on how to become a "Certified Fire Food Judge" enabling avid foodies the chance to learn the criteria and procedures for judging Fire Food competitions. Those that have taken part stand a chance of becoming judges of that days competition and be eligible to judge future events. Calling for applications to enter ASAP. Limited spots available for teams and judges.
